In this post, I’ll tell you how can you restore that Windows 10 ‘This PC’ Shortcut or Windows 10 ‘My Computer’ Keyboard Shortcut like it was in Windows XP/ 7/ 8 or 8.1 or How to Change quick access to my computer in Windows 10.
When Microsoft announced that Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows, I was little bit surprised. Though now a days, we are using mobile phones more than desktops for our day to day tasks, its doesn’t mean Desktop Computers or PCs are dead. We still need them. Not everything can be done on mobiles. Microsoft is going to provide future updates for Windows 10 hence at this moment we can stay relaxed.
If you are traditional Windows XP/ 7/ 8 or 8.1 user, you might be aware about ‘⊞ Windows+E' keyboard shortcut which opens My Computer or This PC. But in case of Windows 10, they have changed this shortcut which may make the User Experience quite more frustrating. When you press ‘Windows Button + E’, it opens Quick Access Folder which contains the files that you’ve recently accessed. It might be good for some users but If you are like me who has habit of opening My Computer or This PC by pressing Windows + E, then you are definitely not happy with this change. But no worries, we can change this shortcut to This PC. Let’s see How. Just follow the steps given below to set Windows 10 ‘This PC’ Keyboard Shortcut.
- Open any folder. Here, I’ve opened that ‘Quick Access’ but you can open any.
- Go to View -> Options.
- Change the option in front of ‘Open File Explorer to’ from ‘Quick access’ to ‘This PC’.
- Click OK.
- Thats it! You are Done. 🙂
Now, press ‘⊞ Windows+E' and you’ll see your good old friend ‘This PC’ or ‘My Computer’ opened in new window. 😀 Thanks for reading the post. If you’ve liked it, please share with your friends. See you in next post…
